Though better known for her association with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Annina Nosei was also one of Barbara Kruger’s earliest champions and probably the first art dealer to show her iconic red, black and white text-based photographs. Along with Basquiat and Keith Haring, Nosei brought Kruger wide acclaim in her legendary “Public Address” exhibition. On the heels of that show, Annina would feature Kruger in several solo and group exhibitions throughout the 1980’s.
Presented here is an exceedingly rare check signed by Annina Nosei and endorsed by Barbara Kruger from February of 1983 for the sale of one of her most iconic images: You Are Not Yourself.
