Jean-Michel Basquiat
Basquiat’s second solo exhibition at Akira Ikeda Gallery in Tokyo featured some of his most iconic paintings including the monumental Modena paintings Untitled (Angel), 1982 and Untitled (Devil), 1982. The latter was famously purchased at auction by Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa in 2016 for a then-record price of $57m and resold in 2022 for $85m.
For this blockbuster exhibition, Akira Ikeda published a catalogue in a limited edition of 1,000 copies of which 300 were hardbound in cloth. This hardbound catalogue is extraordinarily difficult to find; particularly in good condition.
