the Paris review

In the spring of 1983, the renowned literary journal The Paris Review published “Tuxedo”, a suite of 10 images which formed the basis of the eponymously titled silkscreen on canvas produced by Fred Hoffman’s New City Editions.

Blending imagery and text, Jean-Michel’s striking portfolio was a perfect visual accompaniment to an issue that included prose from Joyce Carol Oates and poetry by Czesław Miłosz among others. It was likely the first suite of images by Jean-Michel to be illustrated in a major academic publication.
